"There is a peculiar pleasure in riding out into the unknown. A pleasure which no second journey on the same trail ever affords."

Third Moonday of Falmonan 499 IR
The snows came in the night as every citizen of Brae expected, not the flurries of Fall but the full on pressure of winter snow. In years past the snows have waited until Huntianmonan. The optimists claim that it may ensure spring an earlier return, but there are few optimists when it comes to winter these days and most assume it means a harder, longer cold season. As the soon to be travelers awoke they take notice of the pounding flakes and note that the drifts already appear knee high, they thank whomever they pay homage to that their destination lay not far from Brae. They consider what they learned last night.

The destination is a Cavern to the Northwest, thankfully not far from the road itself but it would be a dim man indeed to not fear the fact it is only reportedly accessible by the waters of Whitelake. There is little concern for much boat traffic on those waters at this time of year but they are known to be choppy and bitterly cold. Gaidon has stated that there is no immediate concern that the Seekers would have found this location but it is possible always to meet them on such tasks and he laid out what he knew about their cult.

Once the piece is secured he wants the party to bring it back to him so he may then lead them and their precious cargo to the secret stronghold of the Protectors of the Door. Once there the group may either continue their work for the Protectors or may go on their way, hopefully to possibly aid in the future if the need arises and they deem it a fitting cause.

For now the group will need to prepare itself for the road ahead, carefully deciding what to take and what to leave at their lodging or, if need be, what to purchase in town if they feel their current supplies to be lacking. An Agreed upon departure time was set for Midday so everyone has until then to prepare. Gaidon is sitting in the common room near the fire if anyone has questions for him, it appears that for the time being there are no others in the room save for a different serving girl, a tired looking innkeeper, and an old looking Tabby cat prowling for scraps.

Approaching Gaidon and addressing him while he is sitting in his chair, "There is a Roadwarden station in town. I am going to go see if they have seen anything in the area northwest of town. Please tell the group that I will return shortly."

"Runnin' off on your own, Frostborn? Right before we all head out, huh?"

Kaldric mimes stretching, touches his toes and leans side to side.

"Well, I could use a little walk. Lets go see what we can find out there. Told ya, I'm keepin' my eye on you."

    [Crunch]

Streetwise d8+2. Lookin' for any suspicious rumors from the locals on the way.

Gaidon - "Not a bad plan Corbin. The Roadwardens have long been an asset to any a goodly traveler along the paths of Rassilon."

Corbin and Kaldric leave the Inn and take the path to the Roadwarden's station as Corbin remembers the way easily. Corbin prods a few city folk for information regarding the Whitelake area and discovers that caverns along the lake's banks are not that uncommon. He also gains some insight into the fact that in decades past some folk have even made secret entrances into these caverns that do not require the use of a boat. He doesn't get any specific information though.

Kaldric learns about the same level of information but mainly he gets a full on view of how people react to the sight of a Frostborn. Even though Corbin and Kalric get some useful information it is obvious that people dislike even being seen near a Frostborn, and on a few occasions Corbin is openly insulted. It seems only the garb of a Roadwarden seems to stave off the worst of the attacks.

    [CRUNCH]
    Corbin - Streetwise (d4-2 & d6-2 = d4 = 4(ACE)-2 +2=4 Success & d6 = 6-2 + 3 =Success)
(Out Of Character: I'll address any info you get from the roadwardens as you speak with them)

    Kaldric - Streetwise (d8+2 & d6 = 4 Success & 3 Failure)

Once Kaldric and Corbin catch a little gossip the rest of the walk to the Roadwarden’s station is met with a chill silence between the two. Corbin’s spirits are lifted a bit when the station comes into view, he knows there will be friends there. He is not wrong, as the two clear the door and enter the thankfully warmer confines of the Roadwarden’s station he hears a bellow from the back of the room as an enormous Saxan man comes forward.

“Corbin ye old frosty-faced rogue! What in the name o’ the Abyss brings you here!? I thought ye was holing up with Agdi for the winter months? Didn’t expect to see you for almost another span actually.”

Corbin recognizes the leader of the Brea’s Roadwardens, a beast of a man named Eulric Franicsunu, and smiles as he’s wrapped in a bear hug by the man who dwarfs him by nearly two feet.

“Who’s yer friend Corbin? A recruit for the Roadwardens?” Eulric reaches out a hand “Name’s Eulric brother, what gives you the pleasure of traveling with Ser Frostshadow here?

  8. [Corbin, calmly]

    [Fluff]

"Greetings Eulric. This is Kaldric. He is traveling with me on an assignment that Agdi sent me on. We were actually here to ask if you may have some information about the area to the northwest of town."

  9. [Kaldric, Warm]

Kaldric grips Eulric's hand tightly and smiles as be begins.

"No, I'm no ones recruit. I travel a bit myself, protectin' caravans with the Iron Guild. Makes me have extra appreciation for those who keep the roads as safe as possible. My thanks to you and yours"

Kaldric nods at Eulric and glances about the room, including all there.

"As my... uh... traveling companion has stated, we're looking for information of anything that may be strange headed out northwest of here. Anything would be helpful, really."

    [Crunch]

d8 Notice roll to look for number of people, their gear and anything that may be off about the group.

Eulric returns the handshake and smiles with a toothy grin. "Well yer in good company Kaldric, Corbin here is good to have at yer side in any scrape. Even saved my life once with a well placed bow-shot. As far as information about the northwest, things have been a mite dangerous on the road of late, mostly orcs. Although, that can be said of the road this time of year every year. They like to gear up for the long winter you see. Iffin' its a personal quest from Agdi I won't pry on the details."

    [CRUNCH]

Kaldric - Notice (d8 & d6 = 5 Success & 2 Failure) - There are only a few men in the room including Eulric and their weapons an armor look well worn. Nothing suspicious about the lot.

  11. [Kaldric, Friendly]

    [Fluff]

"Thanks for the tip about the orcs. I'll keep my head on a swivel for 'em. I'll let you and Corbin catch up before we go, if that's what he wants."

Kaldric nods to Eulric before leaning on the wall, preparing for a wait.

    "Pleasure meeting you gents."

"Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I've decided everything needs to die! Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!11111"

Kaldric begins swinging his weapon in circles around his head, sputtering with rage and foaming at the mouth.

    [Crunch]
Roll whatever it takes to decapitate everything. You better do it, bro, or you'll make me mad, bro!
